Cassie
Cassie

Cassie

Cassie is a very pretty 2 year old female that is chipped, spayed and UTD with her vaccinations. She is house trained and learned to use the doggy doors by watching the other hounds. She is fostered in Port Saint Lucie.

Cassie likes to be the boss dog so we think it is best that she the one pet in a one pet family. She may not do very well with kids but she is great with adults once she gets to know you.

Cassie comes complete her AKC papers and Certificate of Pedigree. If you are looking for a new best friend, Cassie is the girl for you. She is quite a girl.

Cali

Cali

Ladies and

Gentlemen, this is Calie. The term "sweet" is overused when folks describe their dawgs, but Calie's picture is in the dictionary under "Sweet".

This is a well cared for, healthy, 8 year old adult, red-and-white, 33 pound, female basset, complete with shots and microchip. She was slightly confused when she first met this author's thundering herd but now enjoys a romp in the yard with all of them. She will bark at the other dawgs if she feels they are getting out of control. Calie is a Velcro dawg: you don't need to call her because she is never underfoot but always within sight. She had one accident in her foster home but I believe it was because of the new environment. She is crate trained and doggy-door trained. This well mannered lady could very easily live in an apartment without bothering the neighbors. Can't you please help her find her forever home? Cali is being lovingly fostered in Pensacola, Florida. Basset Rescue of Florida is a statewide rescue and our bassets are living in foster homes across Florida. Please do not limit your search to just your living area because the perfect basset may be just a few hours away. More about Cali
Help Our Hospice Hounds

What is a Hospice Hound?  Due to our policy of saving all bassets, no matter their age or health situation, we from time to time find ourselves with a basset who was obviously abandoned or dumped at the local kill shelter because they were too old or too sick.  Our goal is to always get a basset healthy and adopted into their forever home.  Unfortunately we cannot always make a basset healthy and adoptable and these become our Hospice Hounds.

Hospice care provides humane and compassionate care for bassets with an incurable disease so that they may live as fully and comfortably as possible. Hospice is a philosophy of care. The hospice philosophy recognizes death as the final stage of life and seeks to enable our Hospice Hounds to live an alert, pain-free life and to manage other symptoms so that their last days may be spent with dignity, living with someone who loves them. Hospice affirms quality rather than length of life.  We have some angels who take these bassets into their homes and care for them for the remainder of their lives, whatever that may be.  Money cannot buy these angels, they are a blessing to our rescue and to our bassets.  Money can, however, buy medicines and treatments that will enable these Hospice Hounds to stay pain-free and have an enjoyable life for whatever time they have left.  Won't you Help Our Hospice Hounds?  For the cost of a few coffees at Starbucks, you can make a valuable contribution to the happiness and well being of one of our Hospice Hounds.
Georgette

Georgette

Georgette came from us from a senior woman whose husband had just been put in a nursing home and she was being put into an assisted living home. Sadly, they would not allow her to bring her beloved Georgette with her and she called us frantically trying to find a new home for her.

Once we got Georgette into a foster home, we noticed she was drinking water incessantly and then needing to go outside right away. The vet has diagnosed this lovely girl with a very, very rare disease where her body cannot utilize the water she is drinking so she feels a never ending need to drink. There is a treatment that will enable her to live a normal life but it is very expensive (about $100.00 per month). We want to this girl to live her life out with a wonderful family so we need some help with the cost of her medication. Please become an angel to Georgette. More about Georgette

Support Our Seniors
Basset Rescue of Florida saves bassets of all ages from the Florida kill shelters.  We do not discriminate because of age and we find that it takes much longer to get them placed into forever homes and this taxes our rescue's finances.  We can have some seniors in the rescue for a year or more. Seniors require more medications, supplements and more expensive foods than the younger dogs.  Won't you help Support Our Seniors?
Duke

Duke

This dignified Duke has had a most unfortunate life . He was left at a vet's office along with another dog and cat because his mom was living in a car and couldn't take care of them anymore. Grossly overweight from eating a diet scrounged from dumpsters, he could barely walk. How very sad for everyone involved.

We can't change his former mom's life but we can change Duke's and we are looking for a very special home for this handsome basset...a family who will give him a soft bed and a cool home to sleep in. A home that will keep him safe and secure for the rest of his days. Duke is about 9 years old and hopefully will have the best years of his life in front of him. He is being fostered in Lehigh Acres, Florida with a family that loves him and wants to help him find a wonderful forever home. They have helped him shed his excess weight and he's now in super shape (although he is a big boy). Seniors are special and deserve to be pampered for the rest of their days. Won't you open your heart up to this special boy? More about Duke
